Today's sixties link is pretty self-explanatory: "60s Chart Toppers: Every #1 and #2 Hit of the Fabulous Sixties" -- an Internet streaming radio station from Live365 and Vancouver's own Chart Boy.

You'll need an Internet radio tuner program, such as iTunes for the Mac or Winamp for Windows.

[Neurotics]Canada Day details

If you'd like to come see The Neurotics play on Canada Day (this Sunday, July 1) for the Post to Post 10K Run, get yourself up relatively early in the morning. Here are the details:

  • We begin playing outside the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in downtown Vancouver at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, July 1.
  • We play until no later than 12:30 p.m.
  • A DJ will play some groovy music (but not as groovy as ours) in between our sets.
  • We'll be making announcements.
  • The Canada Day cake will be chocolate.

Some people ask us why we go on and on about the sixties so much. There's a reason for it: the seventies sucked. Here's why.

Okay. Next question!

[Neurotics]Dirty Neurotic relates to Sticky Neurotic how things went in Cache Creek over the weekend, when Lumpy and Sticky stayed behind in Vancouver because of other commitments:

Everything was great, though my amplifier blew up as soon as I plugged it into the wall socket (even though it was turned off). I played the whole weekend going through my effects unit straight into the PA. Real nice, thin, wanky sound.

And Woody and I had to sit in the back of the van both trips. Oh, and my television barely worked, and Woody stole my TV converter from the room and didn't bring it back. Right, and then there was the lack of hot water. Lest I forget, the burger I ate at the restaurant...

Oh, and the Dairy Queen ruined my Blizzard really badly. The cashier didn't know how to make it, then wandered around aimlessly with the cup in her hand saying that she didn't know how to make it. She then dumped some stuff in to the cup and said, "I didn't do it right, now I have to do it all over again." Then another girl grabbed the cup and jammed it in the milkshake machine (which, unlike the Blizzard machine, doesn't break up the pieces properly, but instead semi-liquifies and then congeals them to the side of the cup). She then handed me the thing, which was half empty, and said "oops".

Next time I'm dragging you two kicking and screaming all the way if I have to.

Lumpy replies:
Sorry I missed it!

[Neurotics]Want to hear The Neurotics sing and play?

We've added a live audio MP3, recorded last weekend, to the video clip on our demos page.

Sure, yeah, that whole Bob Dylan turns sixty thing was cool. But this is way cooler.

Happy sixty-first birthday, Tom Jones. You're one swingin' cat.

Whoops! On Monday we wrote "The next Neurotics shows will likely be Canada Day, July 1."

Not quite true. This weekend, June 8-9, the band will be in Cache Creek, B.C., where the Trans-Canada Highway makes a swift right turn from the Fraser Canyon on the way to Kamloops and Alberta.

If you're in the area, drop on in!

[Neurotics]It wasn't quite Shea Stadium, but our show at the Harry Jerome Classic at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, B.C. was, well... interesting.

We played many songs. Or portions thereof. We finished one or two of them, having to end all the others part-way through to make way for race results and such. We did a lot of standing around in our sequined jackets getting cold.

But we did rock, baby -- for 30 or 40 seconds at a time. Watch for photos and maybe some video soon.

The next Neurotics shows will likely be Canada Day, July 1. We'll keep you posted.
