[Neurotics] Details for Canada Day

If you're coming to see The Neurotics play on Canada Day (this Monday, July 1), note that we'll be:

  1. In the courtyard in front of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, near Georgia and Hamilton streets in downtown Vancouver, in the mid-morning for the Post-to-Post 10K run.

  2. [Click to see full map - 73 K]On the Canada Safeway Plaza Stage at Canada Place at 2:45 in the afternoon, for about 45 minutes.

  3. At the Cadillac Fairview Cordova Street Stage at 7:45 in the evening, for an hour or so.
See the calendar for more info.

Here's a map for Canada Place -- click it to get a bigger, fuller version. Canada Place is just at the very northernmost, tippy-toppiest end of Burrard Street on the waterfront in downtown Vancouver. (The SkyTrain's Waterfront Station is just steps away too.)

Neurotics stages and times are noted. North is in the upper right corner of the map, and Canada Place itself stretches out to the right.

We hope to see you there!

Spin's list of the 50 greatest rock bands of all time is pretty good.

The Who are at number 39, and their stupendous (and often chubby) bass player John Entwistle just died suddenly. Number 2 on the list are the Ramones, and their insane (and frighteningly thin) bass player Dee Dee Ramone died earlier this month.

The Neurotics are nowhere on the list, so come see us at one of our three shows on Monday. We promise our bassist, Lumpy, will still be alive.

Oh my. June 25 was quite a day in rock history:

  • It's Eddie "Knock on Wood" Floyd's, Carly "You're So Vain" Simon's, Tim "Six Months in a Leaky Boat" Finn's, and George "Wham! Rap" Michael's birthday.

  • It was the day the Beatles recorded "All You Need Is Love" in 1967.

  • Two years later, Mick Taylor first appeared playing guitar for the Rolling Stones.

  • The Muppet Show album hit #1 in the U.K.

  • Prince released Purple Rain.
Oh, and we think this was the day in 1992 that The Neurotics finally recovered from our decade-long hangover. We're not entirely sure though.

[Neurotics] We've added some more shows to our calendar. We're tentatively scheduled to play at the English Bay Beach HQ for all four fireworks shows in the Vancouver Celebration of Light, July 31 and August 3, 7, and 10. Joining us on some of those days will be Doink Neurotic on bass and Bumpy Neurotic on guitar and keyboards, since Lumpy and Woody are otherwise occupied for at least one show each. They're busy guys.

We're also booked for Father's Day 2003 for the Urban Garage Drive for Alzheimer's event again. And of course we still have our three public shows on Canada Day next week. Come check us out.

[Neurotics] Breaking news! Neurotics rock the summer!

This is turning out to be a busy season. In addition to the Urban Garage Drive for Alzheimer's benefit and car show we're playing around lunchtime on Father's Day, Sunday, June 16, we now have three new shows on Canada Day, Monday, July 1:

Anyone can come to these three shows. Though the Post-2-Post run itself is invitation-only, the band plays outdoors on the Queen E. Plaza, starting around 11:00 a.m., and the Canada Place shows are for everyone to be proudly Canadian (or British-Canadian, in our case).

We have six shows already scheduled through the summer. Come see us if you can. And if you'd like The Neurotics to play your event -- well, book now, because we've already got shows clinched for the Christmas holidays.

[Neurotics] We've updated our calendar page -- we now have shows in June, July, August, September, and December confirmed. Alas, only one of them is public -- and that's the nearest one, which is the Urban Garage Drive for Alzheimer's from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm on Father's Day, June 16.

In the meantime, you can catch Woody Neurotic (a.k.a. Adam Woodall) with his band at the Crab Shack in Whistler on Sunday, June 9, and at the Arts Club Backstage Lounge on Granville Island in vancouver on June 15 and 19. He also appears solo at Joe Fortes restaurant in downtown Vancouver every Saturday and Sunday from noon till 3:00.

Lumpy Neurotic also has a few shows, but he won't tell us when or where. Dirty and Sticky are skipping town for awhile until the heat is off from that little incident with the black-market sturgeon roe.
