Yes, The Neurotics rocked the Vancouver Sun Run for the 15th year in a row on Sunday, April 20, 2008. So here are some photos:

Can it really be more than half a year since we posted anything here? How silly! Of course The Neurotics and HourGlass played all through 2007, and have been plugging away in 2008 too—we have a private show at the Renaissance Hotel in Vancouver just next week, in fact. We've just been remiss about updating the website here, which makes us bad little boys.

That's because Sticky Neurotic, drummer/percussionist/web dude here, has been pretty ill for the past while, and pretty much forgot entirely about the website while he got better. If you like, you can check out photos from our crazy six-man show last summer. But we'll go update the calendar and try to dust things off here a bit. Rock on!

We're the rockin' band for the first of a series of Tamara's Block Party events run here in Vancouver by CTV News, and hosted by weather anchor Tamara Taggart.

Tamara will be doing her channel 9 weather forecasts during the evening news on June 21 from a block party in East Vancouver, and we're the entertainment. The weather looks to be good, and it will be a fun time.

As we have since 1994, we'll be rocking out the starting line of the Vancouver Sun Run on Sunday, April 15. Drummer Sticky is sick this time around, so you'll see a different dude on the skins this time around, but expect the same wild-n-crazy Sun Running action as always.

Three months with no updates. Sorry 'bout that. Come see us at the starting line of the Vancouver Sun Run on Sunday, April 23, 2006, starting at 8 a.m.—it's our 13th year (!) at the Sun Run, and the first non-private gig we've played in ages.

And here is last year's photo, in case you're wondering what we look like.

Once again we do have to note that, unlike what the Vancouver newspaper says, we are not a "Beatles clone band." The Beatles were a Neurotics clone band, and everyone knows it, baby.

These days we rarely play an event that's open to the general public, but this week ~~is different.~~ Actually, it's exactly the same. We thought our show at Granville Island's Arts Club Lounge was public, but we just checked the calendar and it's a PRIVATE FUNCTION, public not admitted.

You'll have to rock out some other way on Saturday. We will still be playing many '80s numbers, including "Jenny Jenny (867-5309)," but unless you're part of whatever group is partying down (and we don't know), you'll have to make do with your old Tommy Tutone 45 rpm single. Alas and alack.

Come see us at Joe Fortes on New Year's Eve instead.

Once again (for the third year running) HourGlass is playing New Year's Eve at Joe Fortes Restaurant in downtown Vancouver, B.C. This is a public event, just as in 2003 and 2004, so book a table and rock out New Year's 2005-2006 with us!

Aside from Bumpy Neurotic getting married, we've been busy with shows this summer and fall. So busy that we're quite cheesed off about all these old photos of the Beatles on the World Weird Weeb. We have better pics of ourselves from that time, but they're all packed up in boxes in Sticky's mum's basement, and since that incident back in '73 she won't let us down there anymore. Pity.

We've been oh so busy!

We played at swanky parties featuring Leslie Nielsen and private fireworks over a river! We played at the Abbotsford Airshow, and poolside soirées at high-end hotels! We played for a shoe convention! And we didn't write about it here on the website!

We are so dreadfully sorry!

We're at the Arbutus Club in Vancouver next Wednesday at 5 p.m.!

Neurotics go postal once again

UPDATE: Because of budget constraints, our show at the Post 2 Post run has been abruptly cancelled! So, er, sorry about that, but we won't be there.

As usual, The Neurotics will be rocking the Post 2 Post 10 K run this upcoming Canada Day, Friday, July 1, 2005, from around 8:30 a.m. until about 11:30 in the morning. The event usually includes Canada's biggest Canada flag cake, and some free bagels and fruit and coffee and goodies, among other wackiness.

~~And everyone is welcome! It's one of our few public shows, and usually the weather cooperates, so come on down.~~

Now we're even more famous

Just like last year, the Vancouver Sun has featured us in its Sun Run coverage. Sticky Neurotic's lovely mug appeared on pages F6–F7 of the April 13, 2005 edition:

The map above shows you where we'll be playing at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2005—on Georgia Street between Burrard and Thurlow.

But really. A "Beatles clone band"? Please! If anything, the Beatles were a Neurotics clone band.

It didn't last as long as we'd hoped, and we know our many fans in Surrey are crushed, but Invasion Thursdays at the Central City Brewing Company have been canceled. The regular airfare from the U.K. for us and our vast entourage was simply too costly—and the state of constant jet-lag had become annoying as well.

But cheer up! Next Sunday (April 17) is our 12th annual appearance at the starting line of the Vancouver Sun Run—and if we're not enough justification for you to get yourself up at 6 in the morning, what is? (Here's last year's article, plus a photo or two.)

I mean, 50,000 Neurotics fans can't be wrong, can they?

Invasion Weekend at Central City Brewing - Mar 31, Apr 1–2

The British Invasion is here once again! The Central City Brewing Company in Surrey features us wacky retro-sixties rockers The Neurotics in a full Invasion Weekend, Thursday, March 31 and Friday–Saturday, April 1–2. U.K.–inspired food and drink specials round out the evening, and the fun starts around 8 p.m.; $5 cover after 10 p.m. More info at centralcitybrewing.com.

Just a reminder that, if you want a wacky good time with beer and a dance floor, we play every Thursday (including tomorrow), and we have a full weekend booked at Cenral City Brewing Company March 31/April 1-2. The venue is half a block from Surrey Central SkyTrain station, if you want to avoid driving to or from Surrey, or indulge in some of the available beverages.

As we noted below, an unsolicited fan at our last show said that we "cast a voodoo magic onto the crowd that will whip them into an uninhibited frenzy." So be warned.

What a pity that no photography was allowed when The Neurotics played the River Rock Casino last week.

Then again, with all the nudity, it was probably just as well.

Last two nights at the River Rock

You're missing out on a treat if you haven't yet seen The Neurotics play at Lulu's Lounge at the River Rock Casino in Richmond, B.C.—so far we've played three of our five nights, so you still have today (Friday March 11) and tomorrow (Saturday March 12) to experience it. The show starts at 9 p.m.

It rocks. Really.

No Invasion Thursday on March 24, But Extra Invasion April 1–2

Next week, March 17, we will not be playing our regular Invasion Thursday at Surrey's Central City Brewing Company. Instead, they'll be holding a wild St. Patrick's Day Party, featuring those crazy Irish nutties The Town Pants. You should really go.

We'll see you the following week for more invasion on March 24. We'll also be there all weekend from March 31–April 2 for a full three days of rock!
